what a perfectly normal solution to this level. i totally did not get lucky at all.

(+2)

That's amazing. How did you implement this physics from scratch?

its been a while, but i think i just looked up some formulas and applied them

(+1)

but it works great! if it wasn't pico8 i would definitely think it was implemented by a more complex physics engine like box2d. would you be interested in making some tutorials just for physics?

maybe, i wrote an article on the game that explores some of the inner workings here - https://nerdyteachers.com/PICO-8/Pico-View/?issue=14#superworldofgoo

(+2)

I played this last night before I went to bed.
It was an absolute joy to play and makes me wanna go back and play the original!~

(+1)

very fun, due to being made separately and in a simpler form some of the mechanics are slightly different than the OG but the overall gameplay very well matches The World of Goo. Had a blast! unless you struggle a lot Id say its 3-40 mins of gameplay (it took me 40). I loved the music implementation :D

(+1)

Love the renditions of the soundtrack.

(+1)

Had fun with the game. Didn't speed run, just chill play.
(+1)

played the original at a friends house quite some time ago so this was nice to play

(+1)

Loved the art style and music

(+1)

Didn't know the original game but loved playing your

was fun

How to skip on mobile? Use a remapper?

(1 edit)

unfortunately yes, never got around to making skips on mobile, adding an extra button couldve made a cluttered ui and the 2 mobile buttons were already used

(2 edits) (+1)

On the terraria remake in pico8, the menu button has been used for inventory and holding that button showed the original menu. Maybe you can use that? You could maybe put also the restart button there! Also when you tap on the restart button it dosent do anything and you need to like slowly move the cursor to the button like on the PC you would with your mouse.

*Edit! I think you can like force 2 controllers? Idk, I just remembered how in Pico-8 DOOM you had like additional left and right buttons (or up and down? I think it was left and right)

*Edit! It's called Poom (the pico Doom game I was talking Abt)

(+1)

its really that game??

(+1)

Would be great to also have game.p8.png so I can play it directly from my pico8 emulator

Processed goo - 76 (or 7b, idk the font is pixelated)

Time - 3018 seconds

(+1)

Oh my world-of-goo! That used to be my favourite game years ago - what a brilliant de-make!

(+2)

Did you get permission from 2DBoy to call this "World of Goo" ?

(+4)

they dont care, ron from 2dboy is offering to help with my wog2 level editor as we speak

(+1)

Excellent! I'm happy for you

(+1)

Level editor? We'll be able to make our custom levels???? Cool! In sequence8 you can save your music in some text and paste it to see it? You could use something similar to make the custom levels shareable!

you can already make custom levels easily with no coding knowledge, im talking about world of goo 2, the real deal, the editors on my profile.

(+2)

Fun game!!! As a physicist, the physics simulation got my attention, it was really well-made :)

(+1)

How to use raspi download

(+1)

i honestly have no idea, pico-8 generated it alongside all the others so i thought id list it

(+1)

Very cool! Such a good idea. Never would have thought to attempt this with pico-8!

(+2)

Hey, a really cool game, would be an honor for us if you'd consider joining us as, we're looking for talented indie creators for games, tools, assets, zines, books, ect for a massive a co-op bundle, where we want to include 300 items at least.. If you would like to join us it would be awesome! https://itch.io/jam/ultimate-300-bundle-submissions best regards & peace <3

(+1)

(+2)

Awesome :) If you got any questions feel free to ask :)

(+3)

8-BIT WORLD OF GOO, LETS GOOOO!!

(+2)

I MISS THIS GAME!!!!!!! YES!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

(+1)

Hurts my eyes a bit, but it is common for pico-8, otherwise really satisfying and enjoyable demake!

(+2)

Could you post the pico-8 "cartridge"?

(+2)

https://www.lexaloffle.com/bbs/?tid=142393 it can be found here by clicking on the tiny cart button on the game window

(+1)

Thanks 👍

(+1)

fun and interesting game, thanks for sharing

(+1)

Looks amazing! Can't wait to try it

(+3)(-3)

WHAT EVEN IS PICO 8???

(1 edit) (+2)

It's a fantasy game console https://www.lexaloffle.com/pico-8.php

(+1)

thanks for telling me

(+1)

Np ^_^

(+2)

This game was my childhood :)

(+2)

w game

(+3)

nah brah now they gunna make super little inferno too aren't they

(+2)

also good game btw

(+1)

Wow, getting this play as well as it does on the small space Pico-8 offers is quite remarkable!

It is glitchy, yes (and I can't muster the patience to complete the flying level), misses some elements even in the levels implemented, yes, but what was managed here is still nothing short of awesome!

(+2)

wait i also know that game

(+2)

Cool, though maybe the goos pathfinding to the pipe could use some work. https://clips.twitch.tv/CoyEmpathicSandwichBudStar-lb9WVfl0PI7WrJT0

(+2)

theres no room in the cart for pathfinding! thats why i implemented humming to lead the goo balls

(+1)

both the first sign and the sign in that clip teach you this mechanic, make sure to read the signs!

(+1)

The sign is wrong though.

X doesn't work for humming on PC or mobile.

(+1)

then use (the 1 other button) O or right mouse button and do it instead and ill fix it later

(+1)

Okay, good to know.

(+1)

This is awesome! Got 108 balls :)

(+2)

How did you learn making awesome stuff like this?!

(+4)

i just did it a bunch

(+2)

makes sense, have a nice day

(+1)

I do really like this, conceptually, however I have two things from the actual WoG games this kinda misses. One is the fact that the building is really bouncy, but it wouldn't be as big of an issue without number two, nodes don't stick to the ground. This was decently important for the original, but a big chunk of puzzles in 2 would be effectively impossible without this. And, if you want, you could even implement a 'stick shear' where the stickiness would deactivate if a big enough force was applied in the opposite direction. Or, only some nodes/types of nodes are sticky.

(+1)

these are both resolved in an upcoming update!

(+3)(-1)

I made an account on itch just to give major advice to not spam the w and shift key to skip levels, it will keep spawning and spawning the end level thing until objects start flashing in and out and in and out and it could cause seizures! I managed to get the game to self-destruct because of too much memory, pls fix this, not for me, for the people who can get seizures.

(+2)

i LOVE super vorlt oph guu
